Dec 22 '09 -- 1.5 hr

Processed magazines, ran fresh barcode reports, and straightened the entire periodical storage room. Joyce returns from her leave after the holiday break and I wanted things to be left neatly for her.

Dec 16 '09 -- 1 hr

Once my massive project for 572 was done, I returned to my magazine responsibilities which had piled up in the three school days I neglected them. I notice that more people are prone to just drop in a nose through a magazine at the end of the year with all the special issues. I admit I love those to. I also helped out at the circ desk for a short while as Diane was at lunch.

Dec 11 '09 -- 30 min

Processed five magazines and realized that we received to identical issues of Sports Illustrated. Is this meant to make up for the one we never got back in November? Hmmmm....

Dec 10 '09 -- 30 min

Using Follett's Titlewise service, I helped Diane create the Alex report necessary for the collection analysis and then uploaded the MARC records to Titlewise. I needed this for a 572 project, but Diane had never done this without help from Matt Follett, so by my learning how to run the analysis, I was able to perform a service for Diane. I was glad to learn how to do this and it was helpful for Diane as well.

Dec 8 '09 -- 1.5 hr

Took care of magazine intake and periodical report updates. I also stepped in at the desk for a bit of check out and technology support. I helped look up student usernames/passwords for naughty children who forgot theirs. A teacher working in the lab needed help fixing a printer and I jumped in and took care of that as well.

Dec 2 '09 -- 1 hr

Processed new magazines and updated periodical reports. After the holiday break mail was sorted, all of the sudden there were a ton of new magazines when I just did a big pile on Monday! I also have discovered, and discussed with Diane, that some popular issues of magazines (People's Sexiest Man Alive, in this case) seem to "disappear" for a few days before they even make it up to the library. Then, lo and behold, they show up a week later with bent pages. Hmmm.... sticky fingers somewhere? :)
